What to Expect

Arlington UMC has services each Sunday morning at 8:35 am and 11:05 am, except on “special Sundays,” such as Independence Day weekend, New Years’ weekend, etc., when there is only one service at 10:00 am.  The services begin promptly, and we recommend arriving a few minutes early so you can find a seat and orient yourself.

The dress code at Arlington varies greatly, you will find everything from jeans to suits on any given Sunday.  Please dress in a way that is most comfortable for you!  Nothing is needed to attend worship, hymnals and bulletins are provided; we also display the order of worship on screens in the Sanctuary throughout worship.

Offering is taken weekly, and is greatly appreciated but not required.  Holy Communion is served the first Sunday of each month by intinction (the congregation files toward the altar and has communion given to each person in turn from a single loaf and cup).  Holy Communion in the United Methodist Church is an Open Table- if you have a desire to accept God’s Grace, then you are welcome to take Communion here.

A nursery for children 6 weeks of age to 6 years of age is available during worship.  Ushers can direct you toward the nursery,  If you have nursery age children, you are not required to have them in the nursery during worship, it is available for your convenience.  A Cry Room outside the Sanctuary is available for those who wish to use it.

If you have any special needs, we seek to accommodate you as best we can.  Large print bulletins, assisted listening devices, and wheelchairs are available for use during worship; please see ushers for use of any of these items.  If you have a special need for which we do not already have accommodations in place, please let us know and we will do what we can to assist you.
